How to write a brand mission statement?

Every business has its own individuality. Every business is working towards making a change, be it in a single life or be it in a mass. There is a goal that you want to be working on. A good business ‘mission statement‘ defines your organization in a nutshell. It boils down to the reason for your existence and delivers it to the public in a way that is easy to digest. A mission statement is an amalgamation of what you do and how you bring value to your work.

Define the purpose.

It is very important to share the brand’s purpose with your audience. It gives them a reason to trust the brand. Tell them why you do what you do. Making a strong brand purpose provides you with an opportunity and authority in a domain that separates you from the other competitors. This is even more important if you are trying to market to the current generation of social media (who are information-rich) because they see brand purpose as an important factor when choosing products or services.

Be specific and unique.

Be specific about what you do and who you are doing it for. It should never be generalized in such a way that any other brand could steal and use it as their own. Remember what makes your own company different and unique. It should communicate to your audience well enough to match their ideology or inspire and motivate them. It should be able to resonate with them.

Inspiring and memorable.

Are your products and services helping people in some way? Use that in your statement so that it could inspire others. Choose the key phrases and terminology wisely to make it memorable. A mission statement articulates the purpose of the business. That makes it an important part of any brand-building plan. Consider how the right mission statement can work for your business. A mission statement should tell others why the business exists and what makes it different.

Short and targeted.

Shorter is better because you want to convey the purpose and goal of your business in a way that is simple, clear, and easy to understand. It is also important to remember that mission statements are expressed to your target audience, so the message must meet the needs of the audience. It’s important that you avoid negative messages because mission statements are all about how your business solves a problem, fulfills a want or need, or makes life easier for your audience.
